more summer fun

For the 24th of July we had family night at our house with the Burrastons. I love that the Burraston family tries to get together every weekend, we rotate houses, and have dinner and games. This weekend it was our turn. We had dinner, played Buzz Word, and then headed to Nate and Audrey's for fireworks. It was fun to get to watch the aerials this year at our own homes! We planned to go to the ballpark for Feista Days fireworks, but it was stormy--so we stayed home and watched "Hook" instead with popcorn and treats. (Ryan worked...dang Monday nights!)
Monday morning (July25) we spent hiking up the Grotto Trail instead of hitting the Spanish Fork parade. It was nice to be up the canyon, out of the heat, and not in the middle of the huge crowds for one Fiesta Days!! The hike is easy, although we had told Jack that it would take about 3 hours, with some serious rock climbing and cliff scaling to be able to get to.... he was relieved to see how quickly we got to the waterfall! But then, all 3 kids were quickly shocked by the freezing water! It was a fun activity. After hiking back down, we had a picnic lunch and then went to Grandma and Grandpa Burrastons to swim. Lucky kids!
