the reservior

We spent some time up at the reservior last week. It was a fun break to go to a "beach" instead of a swimming pool or water park this time! Meg and her cute kids came along, as well as my friend Krista and her boys. It was fun...but OH. SO. HOT!! We could only stand the heat for an hour and a half then had to get home in the air conditioning. The kids had fun, though! Floating around on their floaties---until Tye and Jalair popped their Pirate Ship! Dang it... Jack burried Tye in the sand, Maddie looked adorable in her sun hat; Olivia looked styling in hers, too! And so did Uncle Rynan. :D (he'll be so mad that I posted that picture-even if it is tiny! hehehe) SO much fun in the sun!!

my little fishy

Cash did so awesome in swimming lessons. He wasn't afraid to do anything that the teachers asked him to do! He put his face in the water easily; he blew all the bubbles he could; kick kick kicked the water with his alligator legs; jumped off the side with no fear and climbed the 'water ladder' with ease; went down the slippery slide himself and even off the diving board by running from the back and jumping past the teachers. He is my little fishy! He loved swimming lessons. I can't wait to get him into them again next year!

more summer fun

For the 24th of July we had family night at our house with the Burrastons. I love that the Burraston family tries to get together every weekend, we rotate houses, and have dinner and games. This weekend it was our turn. We had dinner, played Buzz Word, and then headed to Nate and Audrey's for fireworks. It was fun to get to watch the aerials this year at our own homes! We planned to go to the ballpark for Feista Days fireworks, but it was stormy--so we stayed home and watched "Hook" instead with popcorn and treats. (Ryan worked...dang Monday nights!)
Monday morning (July25) we spent hiking up the Grotto Trail instead of hitting the Spanish Fork parade. It was nice to be up the canyon, out of the heat, and not in the middle of the huge crowds for one Fiesta Days!! The hike is easy, although we had told Jack that it would take about 3 hours, with some serious rock climbing and cliff scaling to be able to get to.... he was relieved to see how quickly we got to the waterfall! But then, all 3 kids were quickly shocked by the freezing water! It was a fun activity. After hiking back down, we had a picnic lunch and then went to Grandma and Grandpa Burrastons to swim. Lucky kids!

...so THIS is love...

I'm waiting for my wedding pictures, they'll be well worth the wait, I promise! But I can't hold off on our wedding post any more. I will post pictures later on, once they are all done:)

[[Ryan + Emily June 23, 2011]]

Our wedding day was amazing. I'm the luckiest girl in the world!! It felt like a lot of running, but it didn't seem stressful. I was ready for that day to be here! We had the most amazing wedding luncheon at La Jolla Groves at the Riverwoods in Provo. Delicious! Their food was fantastic, their atmosphere is perfect, and our families really enjoyed themselves, I think! It was exactly what we wanted. Ryan had asked Jack to be his best man the day after he proposed. Jack responded with "Dad, I'm not old enough..." but once Ryan explained that it could be anyone that he wanted, Jack was *SO* excited!! He could not wait to play the role, and he did a really awesome job. He wrote a best man speech and gave it at the luncheon. I want you all to read what he said:

Jack's Best Man Speech:

"Welcome everyone and thank you for being here today. And thank you to those who have worked hard to make today so special. I am especially glad ot be here on this occasion to celebrate this wonderful day with my Dad.

I've known the groom for a long time, in fact, since I was born. I am grateful to have him as my Dad. I love my Dad because he always finds time at some point in the day to spend with me. I love being with him and doing things with him. We like to camp together, go to the movies, and play board games. Even though my Dad works nights, and that makes him practically nocturnal, he still finds time for me. It lets me know he loves me.

I first met emily when I came to visit my Dad during Spring Break. We all went bowling together. I remember that Cash tried to bowl the same way that I did and the bowling ball usually knocked Cash, instead of the pins. My Dad is a pretty good bowler. I noticed that Emily was really nice and I could tell that she made my Dad happy. I'm glad my Dad is marrying Emily because it makes him really happy, and that makes me happy. It makes everyone happy.

I'd like to end with a quote:
'Marriage is not about finding a person you can live with, it's about finding the person you can't live without'.

I think my Dad has found that person. Congratulations Dad.

Everyone please join me in a toast: Here's to a lifetime of happiness and love for my Dad; To Ryan and Emily"

There wasn't a dry eye in the room, I don't think. He did an amazing job with his speech...remember, he's only 11! I thought it was so sweet that he could see how happy Ryan and I are together.

After the luncheon we all went our seperate ways, for a short time. We headed over to the Springville Museum of Art, where Ryan and I got to have our "First look". We let him see me in my dress before the ceremony so that the moment could be captured more intimately. We took pictures of us as a couple, and then the big moment was about to begin!

Our guests took their seats, and my dearest friend Meredith played the guitar. She played "Somewhere over the Rainbow" for the kids to walk down the aisle to. It was so beautiful, and I absolutely loved seeing my kids walk down the aisle to Ryan and Jack. What a great symbol of our family coming together! Then it was my turn. My Dad walked me down the aisle, it was so special to me to have him be such a big part of my ceremony. My Dad is amazing; he has been a rock in my life for so many years. And it was no different that day. He made me laugh before walking down the aisle and reminded me to breathe... It really did save me from crying the ugly cry down the aisle :) Meredith played and sang the first verse to "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds. It's truly how I feel, so it was the perfect song to walk to my soul mate to.

Our bishop did such a great job performing the ceremony. I still have to ask him for a copy of what he said to us, because I would love to keep it forever. (If I can get a hold of that, I will type it up here as well) He did a great job in reminding us of how important our marriage and family is. Ryan was so sweet, and I did awesome with not bawling! It was a miracle, seriously! I few tears at the end of our kiss, but otherwise, I stayed calm... haha...

Immediately after the ceremony our guests congratulated us and we cut our cake and mingled. Cupcake Chic made us 6 different cakes. They were all delicious and it was fun to have all those amazing flavors [key lime, s'mores, red velvet, vanilla, carrot, coconut] for our guests to enjoy! I had a "groom's cake" made to surprise Ryan, it was two small cakes that looked like PlayStation controllers. He loves gaming, and he loved them! (I think Jack loved them even more, wait until you see the pictures of their faces when they first saw them!) After enjoying the evening with our families, we headed off to Park City. Meredith booked us a honeymoon stay at the Waldorf Astoria!! It was so amazing!! (I will make that a different post, though:)... later)

That was our day. I really couldn't have asked for a better way to join Ryan's life forever. I am so lucky to be his wife. We were truly made for each other; I thank my lucky stars, and my Heavenly Father, that we were led to each other.

Ryan is my Once in a Lifetime.

I also have to give the biggest THANK YOU to my Mom, Megan, Brit, Auntie Kris, & Auntie Jen. They were so amazing at putting my wedding all together. They made my vision of how I wanted my wedding to be come true. I was so disappointed that the Museum attendees didn't give more support and help, but these girls picked up the slack in the biggest way. (Oh, and Danny too!) I didn't feel stress at all during our wedding, and that was in large part because they took care of everything for me so that I could just enjoy. Thank you all!! I love you so much!!

oops...forgot about somethin'....

I forgot to add to April's events that we had a surprise shower for Meggie!! She had just moved from Hawaii and left behind just about everything, so she was in need of all things baby:) It was fun to have a shower here for her!! Her dear friend Perry also had a shower for her in Hawaii. She had a tea-time for us...it was so girly and fun to go have Tea Time! Pictures comin' right up.....................

Memorial Day

There has been so much going on the past few months that I forgot to post about Memorial Day, too! Memorial Day this year was very nice! We had a BBQ that day and helped decorate headstones for a few loved ones. Ryan had 3 siblings pass away in very young childhood. Holly(2), Nicholas(5), and Heather(7). I can't imagine the heartbreak that his parents and family have gone through enduring such tragedy in losing 3 babies! They all spend a lot of time on Memorial Day decorating their headstones with lots and lots of flowers, yard ornaments, etc. and they turn out so nice! {They took down some of the things before I took this picture the next day, because 2 years ago someone stole everything off their headstones. Grr!}

We took some flowers and balloons to Jeremy's headstone, too! Jayne always puts the prettiest flower arrangement out for him on Memorial Day! (and obviously everyone knows that his favorite colors were purple and yellow:)) The kids refer to him as their Angel Daddy now, and it is nice to know there is an extra guardian angel there for all of us. I know that he is happy where he is and he's resting in peace knowing that we are all so well taken care of and happy here, too.

off to 7 peaks!

We have the Pass of all Passes!!!

Jack was really brave and tried the Jagged Edge this time! He was planning on trying the Free Fall with Ryan...but...it's a little high once he got up there. He did awesome trying something new, though, and he said he'll try the next scariest slide next time (the blue one next to his..whatever that's called)

Jack was too busy jumping waves and swimming around to get a picture with everyone else! But they had so much fun!!

a sneak preview of sorts

I am so excited to get our wedding pictures back. I haven't done a wedding post yet because I'm waiting to be able to show off the work of my photographer! But here is a sneak preview of sorts... I love her work :) Thanks Ashlee Fackrell!! (http://www.afackrell.blogspot.com/) ...and I promise to post about our amazing day very soon!!

The below photo is amazing to me. The museum closed the day of our wedding before we were able to get any pictures inside. Luckily I had expressed to Ashlee how much I really wanted pictures in this particular hallway long before the big day! She was smart enough to go take a picture of the hallway before the place closed down, and with her magic touch, photoshop'd our picture into the hallway that I love so much!! I'm so glad to have this picture!

Here is a photo of us and our new family on the big day. What a magical day!

campin' out with Dad

Ryan took the boys on the Father/Sons campout up Hobble Creek Canyon this year! They had so much fun:) Cashy said it was freezing at night, and that Dad had the best sleeping bag, but I think he'd definitely do it all over again! After they got their tent all set up, everything settled, fire built and the hotdogs roasting, the camp director came and let him know that he picked a spot that was not apart of the ward's section. Woopsy!! He had to pay for the spot, and they didn't get to mingle much, but they had a great time anyway!!

slippin' and a slidin'

The kids are entertained by this for quite a while...yay!!... but right when we were shutting it off I decided to break out the camera, so Ryan sprayed them with the hose while they went one last time.. NICE SPLASH!

Happy Independance Day!

We had a fun celebration for the 4th of July with the Burraston Family this year! We were able to fire off some aerial fireworks this year in Utah, which is not normally legal, so it was quite a show just from the front lawn! The kids got to swim in the pool before we exhausted them with late night fireworks. FUN!
